Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 18

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 18 begins with Yuji walking somewhere lost in thought. We cut to Nanami encountering hordes of cursed spirits. He thinks for a moment about his future dreams and current goals before letting go of the mood. During this match, Yuji hears Nanami's voice and is worried. Mahito arrives on the battlefield.

He informs Nanami that he has been watching him the whole time. Nanami knows that he is nearing his end and is aware that Yuji is in the area. He tells Yuji to take care of Mahito and perishes before Yuji's eyes. Yuji battles Mahito for a while and fights. He asks Mahita why he still likes to mess with people's lives. Mahito tells Yuji that it's because he and he are the same being.

Mahito tells Yuji if he doesn't learn to accept this truth, he will never defeat him. Yuji continues his fight with him. Mahito mentions that he has a backup plan in case things go wrong with him. Then we see him split into two beings. One fights Yuji while the other deals with Nobara. Nobara fights Mahito's clone and plans to defeat him.

The episode ends with Mahito planning to murder Nobara and bring her corpse to Yuji to crush his spirit.

Episode review

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 returns with another action-packed episode for fans to watch this week. After the epic clash between Mahoraga and Sukuna last week, fans were curious to see how Studio Mappa would follow it up. With sad deaths, wonderful choreography, and interesting internal conflicts, Episode 19 delivers another fascinating chapter for fans to explore and discuss with their friends.

It is unfortunate that Nanami leaves the story so soon. Despite his excellent performances throughout the series, I feel that Gege Akutami removed him too soon. While Nanami's battle with the hordes of cursed spirits is an exciting way to wrap up his arc, many would have liked Akutami to explore his character more or give her character better packaging than she got.

However, the scene involving him and Yuji carries enough emotional weight to please his fans. Nanami aside, it looks like we're going to get more of Nabara's character. This is great considering she has yet to have a significant moment in this arc despite her overall role in the anime. I wonder how he plans to defeat Mahita's clone.
