With the sole purpose of enlisting Hakari’s help, Yuji stops resisting and decides to stay determined until Hakari breaks. However, before Hakari can even consider agreeing to help, Yuji must prove that he has the fever to start him.
Plot:
Megumi disperses Divine Dog: Totality while restraining Kirara and simply asks them to please listen. Still skeptical, Kirara questions if Megumi could really have planned to use the Divine Dog to hold them back. Kirara doesn’t think Megumi could know if he or the shikigami were taken down. Megumi admits that he took a risk, but now knows that the one with the higher cursed energy output does the pulling. At first, Divine Dog was pulling Megumi, but the opposite happened when Megumi empowered his body with cursed energy.
Kirara says that Megumi isn’t very cute for the first year, but suddenly lets them go. Megumi bows and begs Kirara to listen because there is no time. Confused as to why Megumi would let them go, Kirara decides to believe him and agrees to listen. However, the door to the monitoring room suddenly flies off its hinges, and Yuji with it. Megumi notices that Yuji has been hit outside the room, and Panda comically laments that Megumi didn’t really help.
Hakari walks out, irritation written all over his face. Yuji tells Megumi and Panda to stick with it, which makes Hakari believe that he is being underestimated. He immediately throws a devastating blow that crushes Yuji’s face and sends him tumbling through the roof. Megumi, Panda and even Kirara are worried about how hard the hit is. Hakari notices that Yuji isn’t even resisting, and the freshman gets back to his feet before falling completely to the ground. Yuji defiantly blows the blood from his nose, and Hakari comments that he’s crazy, noting that his opponent isn’t even going to dodge. This is not a life and death battle like in Shibuya, so Yuji will no longer dodge or defend until Hakari breaks.
Yuji’s lack of resistance only confirms that he is not a spy, so Hakari says that he will hear Yuji out on the condition that he can remain standing. Hakari flares up with his cursed energy and Kirara urges him to listen out of concern for Yuji, telling him that they just want his help. Hakari claims that he just said he would listen and then asks Yuji why he is specifically asking him for help.
Yuji says that all of his senpais have confirmed that Hakari is strong, annoying him. Hakari punches Yuji again, and as he swings through the air again, Yuji likens Hakari’s amplified punches to being hit with a serrated bat. Exasperated, Hakari yells at Yuji, saying that wizards understand that asking each other for a favor is like asking someone to put their life on the line. For Hakari to take such a risk, he needs Yuji to prove he has a fever right here and now to convince him.
Hakari is annoyed because Yuji came to Tochigi on someone else’s orders and says that Headmaster Yaga should weed out weaklings like him. Yuji claims that he has no fever and says that he is just a cog, a cog in the machine that wizards need to remove cursed spirits. Hakari finds this response extremely boring and lands another punch, prompting Megumi to express her interest in Yuji, believing she can’t afford to get punched anymore. Hakari hit Yuji with the hardest blow yet, sending him over the roof and into the wall, seemingly incapacitating him. Hakari reveals that Satoru Gojo said that his cursed energy had the upper hand, which is why Yuji was experiencing a sharp sensation when he was hit.
Hakari starts to tell Megumi and Panda to grab Yuji and leave, but Yuji suddenly reappears behind him. Hakari is really surprised and backs away, wondering how he can still stand after taking three shots without protection. He asks Yuji what it is, and the first year repeats that it’s just a wheel. Yuji believes that his function is to get rid of the curses as Hakari is necessary for this, Yuji states that he will not stop until she agrees. Yuji then gets back in Hakari’s face, looks into his eyes, and is asked by senpai what his function is. Hakari meets Yuji’s gaze and asks himself if it’s the gaze of a wheel in a fever. He wants to continue beating Yuji, but Kirara interrupts to get Hakari’s attention.
Kirara asks Hakari if Yuji’s fever is burning enough for him, which surprises Hakari. Realizing that Kirara’s thought is undeniable, she acknowledges that it is true and that fever never lies. Hakari suddenly agrees to listen to Yuji and tells Megumi and Panda that he is finally willing to make a deal.
Megumi and Panda are extremely confused by what just happened, as Megumi doesn’t understand how things suddenly got resolved. He asks Kirara if what they said convinced him, which they confirm. Kirara reveals that even though they still hate the higher ups, they still realize that Hakari’s fever burned the most when he was helping people at Jujutsu High.
