Summary:
Word of Ogi’s demise reaches the rest of the Zenin clan. They rally their most elite troops to arrest Maki, but the vengeful twin will not be denied justice for her sister. Willing to do anything to fulfill her promise to Mai, Maki uses her new powers to destroy everything.
Plot:
An alarm bell rings and the ringing echoes throughout the Zenin Clan’s domain. Within his reach are Jinichi and Naoya, who leave their meeting room and walk out into the hallway. Young Ranta Zenin finds them and tells Jinichi that Maki has gone mad and killed Ogi. Jinichi and Naoya are both surprised that Ogi fell for her.
The Kukuru Squad was sent to apprehend Maki. Captain Nobuaki Zenin tells his men that she must have killed Ogi in his sleep or in the bathroom, still underestimating her strength. Not wanting to be scolded by Jinichi, Nobuaki orders the Kukuru unit to deal with Maki quickly. The Kukuru unit is made up of Zenin men who have not shown innate techniques. They are a lower branch of the Hei who undergo grueling combat training day and night.
The Kukuru unit finds Maki in a ton room and is surrounded by at least twenty men. Standing alone with Dragon-Bone in one hand and Mai’s Split Soul Katana in the other, Maki can only think of her sister.
Maki wonders what her plan was and if she should have given up on becoming a witch alongside Mai. She figures that might have been the right answer all along and apologizes to her sister. Kukuru’s unit attacks as Maki remembers Mai’s last request: “destroy everything”.
Maki opens her eyes just as one of the men tries to slash her with a katana. He dodges the blade and cuts off both of the man’s hands in one swift movement. She then swings over his back and slashes several of his allies before cutting off his head. Despite their numbers, the Kukuru Unit is no match for Maki, and they are effortlessly killed one by one in a successively brutal fashion. Nobuaki arrives expecting that Maki was already done. He is unpleasantly surprised to see all his men turned into bloody corpses by an unharmed Maki, the same girl who once served in the unit.
Maki notices a surge of cursed energy nearby. It’s coming from Chojuro Zenin from the hallway next to her. Suddenly, Maki is thrown into the air by gigantic stone hands that clap in an attempt to break her as she falls back down. Nobuaki recognizes this attack as Chojuro’s cursed technique and notes that the Hei have arrived. The Hei are the most powerful wizards in the Zenin Clan, consisting of all family members with half-class 1 or higher.
The clutching stone hands are not enough to hold Maki and she suddenly breaks. Nobuaki and Chojuro try to stop her, but she slams her hands into their throats at blinding speed, killing them both before they can react. Ranta uses his paralysis technique to hold Maki in place and yells at Jinichi to end her. As Jinichi rushes to do this, Maki fights back and forcibly breaks out of Ranta’s paralysis. This backlash severely injures Ranto’s eyes and prompts Jinichi’s concern. Despite bleeding profusely from several places on his face, Ranta makes sure to tell Jinichi that Maki has become like Toji. Toji didn’t destroy the clan on a whim, but Maki will if Ranta and Jinichi don’t destroy her here and now.
Jinichi uses his cursed technique to unleash several giant cursed energy-powered fists raining down from the sky. This hits everything in the immediate area, allowing Ranto to believe that they succeeded in his final moments. Ranta collapses to his knees, succumbing to the previous strain of his injuries, while Maki steps out of the dust and smoke with Jinichi’s severed head. He walks past Ranta and throws Jinichi’s head into the pond without any sign of remorse.
Naoya, the head of Hei, faces Maki on the other side of the small bridge that spans the pawns. Amused by Maki’s strength, Naoya calls her cruel and asks if she has a human heart. Maki replies with a simple “no” because her heart was taken.
