Summary:
After the goodwill event, the first years of Jujutsu High are sent on their next mission. Together with Akari Nitta, they investigate mysterious deaths connected to Megumi’s old high school. Meanwhile, Mahito manifests one of the womb paintings of death.
Plot:
In June, Morioka resident Taichi Kanada complained to his building manager that the automatic lock door at the entrance to his apartment was stuck wide open. None of the other residents noticed any problem, but Taichi demands that they look into it now. While he was complaining on the phone, a cursed ghost appeared behind him and stabbed Taichi to death.
In August, Osamu Shimada was killed in Yokohama, and Hiroshi Yamato was also killed in similar circumstances in September while staying in Nagoya. Akari Nitta, Jujutsu High’s assistant manager, explains this to the first three years as she drives them to their mission location. Megumi points out that the dates and locations are all different and questions the idea that the same cursed spirit traveled so far.
Akari adds that there is another thread that connects the three. They all attended the same high school for two years. The most likely explanation is that the three were cursed and it took all these years for it to manifest. Akari takes them to the funeral where they can talk to a classmate who knew all three victims. Akari didn’t know there was going to be a funeral and reveals that this means he died the same way as the other three. He was killed at his front entrance where his door would not open.
Next, they move to explore Saitama Urami East Junior High on their own. Nobara notices some punks smoking and says they should beat them up and interrogate them. The boys notice the group and immediately bow respectfully and at the same time apologize for not greeting them properly. Yuji and Nobara smile, proud of each other for their strong aura. However, the boys bow to Megumi, who they haven’t seen since graduation. Megumi acts measured, but Nobara and Yuji annoy him. They ask the boys for answers and it turns out that Megumi beat up half the punks in the area. Megumi continues to act like he doesn’t know what’s going on, causing his peers to annoy him even more.
One of the school teachers seems to be asking why there are strangers on the school grounds. Akari explains that they have permission and Megumi speaks directly to Takeda. It’s been twenty years since the four victims graduated, and Megumi wonders if some kind of karma has come upon them. The punks of yesteryear wonder if bungee jumping off the Yasohachi Bridge would qualify. Yasohachi Bridge is a place known for suicides and a hot spot for paranormal activity. Takeda also mentions that high school students like to test her skills by bungee jumping from her.
The boys say it was an older generation thing that kids don’t do anymore, but they still hear the stories. One day, four students were found unconscious under the bridge, having failed to show up to school or return home the previous night. Megumi has been there before, as Jujutsu High is frequented by paranormal hot spots. There was nothing special the last time he went, but Nobara and Akari agree that they should head there anyway.
Before the wizards leave, Takeda asks Megumi how Tsumiki is. She replies that she is fine and Yuji asks who she is. Megumi reveals that Tsumiki is his sister and Nobara is upset that she never tells them about herself.
Meanwhile, Mahito and Pseudo-Geto meet over their recently acquired cursed items: Death Painting Wombs #1-3. Mahito asks why Jujutsu High doesn’t destroy these cursed objects and Geto explains that they can’t do that when the cursed object is a special class. What they can do is stop his life stream and prevent him from taking further damage. The exception is Sukun’s fingers, which even after all this time can attract curses and choose their vessel. Conversely, Death Painting Wombs can manifest on anyone.
A normal human, unable to see curses even in this life-threatening situation, is chosen to manifest one of the wombs. Mahito does this by pressing her womb down his throat, turning him into a cursed ghost. At the same time, three High Jujutsu freshmen arrive at Yasohachi Bridge.
