Summary:
Mahito and his doppelganger continue to fight the Jujutsu High School students. Yuji quickly loses the upper hand as Nobara uses Mahito’s overconfidence against him. A curse of a special degree is forced to discover that Yuji is not his only natural enemy.
Plot:
At 23:14, after Nanami left Nobara and Akari behind, the first year student refused to leave with the rescue team. They didn’t tell Nobara Shoko Ieiri that she was in Shibuya, so she didn’t do something rash. However, she ignored Nanami’s orders to stay out of the incident and left alone, as she can’t just run away while everyone else is fighting.
In the present, somewhere closer to 11:20 PM inside the station, Mahito impales three innocent civilians and uses them to attack Yuji as he walks up the stairs. He playfully wonders if he should have asked Dagon to leave more people here, but quickly dismisses it. Yuji checks the status of one of the injured people, only for them to transform and explode. Blood gets into Yuji’s eyes, making him vulnerable to an attack from behind. Mahito transforms his arm into a spiked club and prepares to finish him off.
Meanwhile, in an alley nearby, Mahito is still clashing with Nobara. She avoids his hands, but Mahita’s double still fails to transform the other souls. This double attacks by transforming because it is not Yuji and carries no risk. Nobara tries to trade blows, but her methods seem ineffective. Mahito points this out to his opponent, but Nobara states that he has to try anyway, boring the cursed spirit.
Mahito casually dodges Nobara’s projectile nails as he climbs the side of the alley to a higher platform. He drops some nails at Mahita’s legs and blasts them with a hairpin before coming back down, confusing Mahita with his moves. While focusing on Nobara, she reactivates the Hairpin and her cursed energy spreads it into Mahito’s lower body, immobilizing him. Mahito realizes that the first blast was simply aiming the nails upright and placing them in the perfect position.
Nobara mounts Mahito when he is injured, but still sees no potential danger. However, unbeknownst to the special class, Nobara had come up with a way to attack his soul. Mahito realizes that Nobara was bluffing about not having a plan too late. He hammers a nail right into his forehead and activates the resonance. Using Mahito’s body as a likeness, Nobara can use his cursed technique to attack his soul. As a result, the Resonance also transfers from the duplicate to the original soul and reflects the damage back, greatly injuring them both.
Mahito’s sudden injury prevents him from finishing off Yuji. Yuji manages to open his eyes and even recognizes Nobara’s needles sticking out of the curse’s chest. Mahito’s double is shocked and realizes that Yuji is not his only natural enemy. The steel girl standing in front of him can attack his soul as well.
Nobara reveals that she felt her cursed energy activate somewhere else nearby. Plus, he doesn’t feel that Mahita’s cursed energy is as strong as it should be, and he didn’t grab it when he had the chance. He believes that this Mahito is simply a doppelganger who cannot properly use his innate technique. Mahito amusedly licks the blood dripping from his face and admits that his opponent is absolutely right.
